| xembed-sni-proxy | Convert XEmbed system tray icons to SNI icons | package So I have to regress to get the xembed-sni-proxy app to work… whatever they did to “incorporate” that app into plasma5.5 is broken: Of course being a bit more specific about the actual problem might also help to get useful answers/hints… (toggling the “Various” category only helps if that item is actually part of the “Various” category, toggling the affected item itself should help in any case) This one can be “fixed” by toggling the corresponding item in the system tray settings, as Knurpht describes. The problem with system tray elements disappearing randomly is caused a bug in Qt5, patches that should help have been added and submitted as an update to Leap (but that’s not released yet). (you can of course also upgrade completely to the latest Plasma5 from KDE:Frameworks5 if you prefer…) You can also install xembed-sni-proxy from KDE:Frameworks5, that does include the fixes for that crash: sudo rpm -U That crash is fixed in Plasma 5.5.4, but not submitted to Leap yet (I hope to add more fixes for other problems, that are not fixed yet but might be soon). Manually running “xembedsniproxy” should help in this case. The one originally discussed here in this thread is that fcitx does something “stupid” that caused xembedsniproxy to crash, and as a result making old-style XEmbed systray icons disappear. Just to be clear here: there were several independent problems. Your systemtray has now gone back to normal. AFAIK it will land in Leap over the next couple of weeks.Ī workaround is to go to the Systemtray’s settings: Then uncheck the “Various” item, click Apply, recheck the item, click Apply. How it usually looks (you can see the spaces where the missing icons should be) I thought perhaps it might be related to fcitx - but removing this and all config files doesn’t correct the problem. Had a quick look but couldn’t find a bug report. This is going to get pretty tiring if I have to go through this procedure every time I have to boot. Selecting to “always show” in systray settings has no effect. The only procedure that works successfully is to remove systray > log out and back in > add new systray. On both my systems - after removing systray and clicking to add a new systray widget plasma crashes and then loads systray with the missing icons again. It can be repaired for the session by removing systray and adding it back in. Sometimes logging out and back in fixes the problem - sometimes not. Around 50% - 60% of the time fcitx systray icon is not loaded. On boot, more often than not the volume icon is not loaded in systray. This persists across two different clean install using two separately downloaded ISOs. Check your connection by pinging a few websites or by trying to browse or download something off the internet.Having a problem with random icons occasionally not loading in system tray. If the connection drops while you’re writing or right as you press send, it’s possible that you may receive a “message delivered” notification but the other person won’t get the message. Although you may see someone online, simply writing a message and hitting send is not enough to guarantee it will reach its destination. ![]() Connection IssuesĪnother reason for messages not showing on either end of a conversation is a poor connection. It may not seem like much, but this method is known to yield positive results. The inability to send or receive messages can sometimes be fixed with a short trip to the Privacy menu. ![]() This is another unfortunate and common issue with Viber.
